Teddy bears have been an important childhood toy throughout history. Not only do children love to care for and name them but the humble teddy bear also provides great comfort and connection for children.

History Of The Teddy Bear
Few people are aware of how a teddy bear came to be, so here’s a quick history lesson for those of you who aren’t familiar with the bear’s origins.
Teddy bears can be traced back to Theodore Roosevelt, who was given the nickname “Teddy” after refusing to kill a bear captured on a hunting trip. The story quickly spread, catching the attention of political cartoonist Clifford K. Berryman.
Morris Michtom, the owner of a local toy shop, saw the illustration and created a small bear that looked exactly like the one in the illustration. He hung it in his shop window with the words “Teddy’s Bear.”
The teddy bear toy grew in popularity and demand to the point where Michton asked President Roosevelt for permission to officially name the toy Teddy Bear.
And the rest, as they say, is history. The teddy bear is still popular today, and despite all of the technologically advanced toys available to our children, the humble teddy bear has not lost its place in their hearts.
